HENRY COUNTY (Georgia) – The man accused of firing on two police officers and having killed his girlfriend, his teenage son, and then shot himself hundreds of times, said the Henry County Police Chief, Mark Amerman, Friday morning.
But Anthony Bailey should not have had a firearm. He was convicted of felony and spent nearly two years in prison for aggravated assault in the 1990s, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.
Bailey reportedly killed Sandra White, who was pregnant, at her Stockbridge home on Thursday morning. Then he shot dead two officers who arrived at the house.
Agent Taylor Webb was shot in the chest and hip, and officer Keegan Merritt was shot in the hand, said Amerman. They have both been in service for seven years and stayed at the Grady Memorial Hospital on Friday. Both should survive their wounds.
Friday afternoon, Henry's police released images of the camera of the body of the first officers who arrived on the scene. White's sister called 911 after seeing the pregnant woman on the floor in the garage, police said.
The officers saw blood in the alley and the woman who was bleeding and who was no longer reacting and forced herself into the house, showed a video. Immediately, both officers were shot.
"Shots were fired! Shots were fired! ", We heard screaming in the video.
"I'm touched, I'm touched!" Said another officer.
Agent Taylor Webb was shot in the chest and hip, Amerman said. Webb went into the garage of the house, where he saw White's lifeless body. A second officer, Keegan Merritt, was shot in the hand.
Bailey is then heard screaming at the agents not to enter the house, warning that he had enough ammo.
"Do not come here. Do not come here. Do not come here, "said Bailey. "I had a lot of shots. I have a hostage. I have a hostage.
The hostage was White's son, Arkeyvion. Although the police never made contact with the teenager, he was able to send SMS messages to relatives, Amerman said.
The agents negotiated with Bailey for hours, but he refused to surrender.
"We tried to do everything in our power to achieve a peaceful resolution of the conflict," Amerman said.
After deploying gasoline into the house, Bailey again fired on officers and an armored truck, but no one was injured, Amerman said. Around 3 am, Georgia State Patrol soldiers entered the house and found three bodies: Bailey, Sandra White, and Arkeyvion.
