will launch plant-based chicken nuggets this fall, the company said Friday. As with its previous versions, the startup plans to sell food to restaurants first, with availability of supermarkets to follow later. But before all that, he’ll debut them at a trade show next week.

One thing that will set the nuggets apart from Impossible’s legacy products is the absence of, a molecule that the company says is what makes “meat taste like meat.” But the problem with Impossible’s heme is that the company does it. This is something that has kept Impossible to sell its burgers and sausages in China and all over Europe. But when it comes to real chicken, there isn’t much heme in the animal’s white meat. “We found it in a nugget format, which is breaded and has a little bit of seasoning, it really wasn’t that necessary.” Laura Kilman, a flavor scientist with Impossible, said Bloomberg. The formula the company ultimately opted for mainly uses soy protein and sunflower oil.

, Impossible Foods is late in coming up with an alternative to chicken. “We’ve been busy with other things,” said Dennis Woodside, president of the company. Bloomberg. At this point, Impossible has introduced a file.

Still, it might not matter much. Earlier in the week, Popeyes announced that he hopes to replicate the success of his chicken sandwich. The latter sparked a “war” between fast food chains as demand for chicken increased in the United States and around the world. This is something that could help Impossible when its plant-based chicken begins to make its way to consumers.
