The artistic director of the film talks about his revolutionary style of animation

The film's artistic director, Patrick O'Keefe, said the animation techniques used in the film had never been used before.
"We could not just rely on a 3D animation. We had to rely on some of the hand-drawn techniques of 2D animation at the old school, "O'Keefe said in an interview with CBC Kids News of Sony Pictures Animation Studio in Los Angeles.

The result is layers of color that change the focus while resembling a comic.
As artistic director, he helped to design the film world.
It is no wonder that he is excited by the fact that the film was nominated in the category of best animated film at the Oscars.
"I could not have imagined being involved in something so big," he said.

He added that the reason the film resonates with so many young people is that it is told from a child's point of view.
"He's an ordinary kid trying to discover himself," he said about the main character, Miles Morales.
Prizes will be awarded Sunday night in Los Angeles.
It's far from Toronto, where O'Keefe grew up.

"I remember [as a kid] we brought in an artist – another Toronto artist – who works in the film industry here in Australia. I was like Oh, my God, everything is possible. "
