According to the authorities, 10 Indian men and 24 Thai women were arrested for alleged involvement in false marriages to extend spousal visas in the country.
Be on the run, the Nation newspaper reported Tuesday.
The arrests are part of an on-going crackdown launched by the Immigration Police Bureau against foreigners living illegally in the country, the paper said.
The suspects were among the 30 Indians. and 30 Thai women wanted under arrest warrants issued by the courts for forgery of documents, use of false documents and transmission of false information to state agents, which could lead to further damage said the police.
The Immigration Police Office 1 in Bangkok detected false marriages between 30 men and 30 women, falsely documented with the aim of extending spousal visas for men, most of whom were living in Thailand as illegal lenders or payment installers
The 30 women allegedly collaborated in the wrongdoing by being hired, apparently for 500 to 5,000 baht (15 to 152 USD) each, in order registering false marriages and submitting false documents
The authorities canceled the men's visas and obtained 60 arrest warrants against the suspects.
