WARNING: This story contains annotations for meetings of Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 2.
The meeting of the game Thrones does not stop with the first of season 8; The episode of this week also gave us long-awaited moments between Jaime Lannister and Brienne de Tarth and Jon and Ghost, his werewolf. However, a particularly emotional exchange took place between Theon Greyjoy and Sansa Stark when he arrived in Winterfell to join the fight against the White Walkers. After being introduced to Daenerys, Sansa rushes to hug him, her eyes full of tears.
Later in the episode, the two men also exchanged endearing looks while sharing a meal before the great battle of Winterfell.
Some viewers have asked themselves: are these two lovers? Sansa and Theon have a story. They grew up together in Winterfell because his father, Ned Stark, had taken Theon on guard (or as a hostage) after his father had led a failed rebellion against the iron throne. But there are gray areas. Theon tried to prove himself to his father by besieging Winterfell and pretending to burn Bran and Rickon Stark. Theon's victory is then broken when Ramsay Bolton seizes Stark's home, takes him as a prisoner and tortures him (and castrates him) severely.
The last time Sansa and Theon were together, it was at the beginning of season 6, after he helped escape Ramsey to Winterfell. In the end, they are saved by Brienne and Pod, and this last duo takes Sansa to Castle Black to meet with Jon while Theon goes home to the Iron Islands and his sister Yara.
After their common appearance on the screen this week in the GoT the fans thought to see sparks. perhaps getting closer to his last episodes, but is there room for another romance before the end?
We'll see if this reunion will lead to anything other than an alliance when Game of Thrones returns to HBO next Sunday at 9:00 pm Eastern Time.
