The first flight carrying pilgrims from Haj will depart from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on August 1, announced Sunday the chairman of the Telangana State Committee, Mohammed Masiullah Khan. This year, 25 flights will carry 7,232 Haj pilgrims from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and parts of Karnataka to Saudi Arabia.
The flight is due to travel to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia at 7:30 am and the first group of pilgrims will be driven to the airport by a bus from the National Society of Road Transport Telangana from Haj House early in the morning. "The hajis (pilgrims) must report to Haj House 48 hours before the planned departure of their flight," he said.
