Originally, the creators had planned a release of Diwali 2018.
After the debacle of Vivegam Ajith pinned high hopes Viswasam, which has been officially launched earlier this year. The project was scheduled to go upstairs in March, but it had to be postponed due to the Kollywood strike, thanks to a confrontation between the Tamil Film Producers Council and the digital service providers.
The filming of Viswasam was finally filmed at the beginning of May and the creators would have already made about 40% of the shooting. Originally, the film was scheduled for the release of Diwali 2018, but now it has been confirmed that it will only be released on Pongal 2019.
At the audio launch of Maniyar Kudumbam from Thambi Ramaiah director Siva was invited as one of the chief guests. During an informal discussion with some journalists, he revealed that Viswasam was scheduled as Pongal 2019 and that they had until now completed 40% of the shooting.
The project, funded by Satyajothi Films, features Nayanthara as the main lady. The project marks the fourth consecutive collaboration of Ajith and Siva. Ajith, who has popularized the salt and pepper look in her last three outings, dyes her hair black and has a new look for the film.
In a first collaboration, D Imman was finalized to compose music. He recently revealed that he was delighted to be part of the project. The film also includes Yogi Babu, Vivek, Kovai Sarla and Thambi Ramaiah among others in important roles.
The rest of the cast and crew is still unknown. It is said that Shraddha Srinath could have played an important role. Viswasam will be realized with a much smaller budget than Vivegam, which was realized with a huge budget of 120 rupees. Meanwhile, there are reports that Ajith could soon join Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru director H Vinoth or Prabhudeva for his next project.
