Forty-two pbadengers were killed after their bus fell into a gorge in Paudi Garhwal District of Uttarakhand this morning. Three are seriously injured.
The accident occurred on the Pipali-Bhoan Highway in the Nainidanda Block of Pauri Garhwal. Police and a team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are engaged in rescue operations.
According to reports, about 45 pbadengers were traveling on the minibus that was heading to Ramnagar from Bhoan. The reason for the accident is not yet known.
The wounded were transported to the hospital. The number of casualties is expected to increase, said Garhwal Commissioner Dilip Jawalkar
Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat expressed his condolences to the family of those killed.
