Manny Machado: "No excuse" not to miss ground shot against the sailors | Bleacher's report

Baltimore Orioles shortstop Manny Machado publicly apologized for failing to fight when he managed a double game in the 3-2 loss to the Mariners from Seattle on Tuesday.

"At the end of the day, there is no excuse for not exhausting it," said Machado, by Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun. "I take full responsibility not to run, I should have run hard, it looks bad, it looks bad for the people who follow me, the people who look at me, and I apologize completely for dropping people, but next time I run, there is no excuse for that.

Machado – who stumbled by chance while the double game was over, during which point counted – added that he did not think that he would have reached the first base safely, even though he had run at full speed. But the fans who showered a chorus of boos after the play did not seem to care.

The shortstop All-Star said that he had not noticed the reaction of the fans.

"I do not hear it, I do not hear anything of it," he said. "I'm really trying to be in the zone, I'm trying to win trying to win games, I'm trying to block that, that's what you have to do when you are in the major leagues. Do not hear the boos, you do not hear either the people who encourage you, you have to stand on this ground and let your room dictate everything else.

Baltimore fans may be a little crude when it comes to Machado these days, as rumors circulate that it will be traded this summer. Bob Nightengale's USA today reported Wednesday that the Los Angeles Dodgers were "ready to land" Machado and "front-runners" in this pursuit.

Other clubs, including the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Atlanta Braves, the Chicago Cubs, the Philadelphia Phillies and the St. Louis Cardinals, have been linked to the star striker, by Daniel Kramer from MLB.com.

It is not surprising that teams around the baseball are calling for the Machado landing. The 25-year-old has a .301 record with 19 home runs and 55 RBIs this season and is already three-time star champion and two-time gold champion. He will be one of the best free baseball players this winter, alongside Bryce Harper, and could sign a contract worth more than $ 300 million.

But it's also not surprising that Oriole fans are reluctant to offer him some relaxation, as his days in Baltimore are almost certainly counted.
