A 48-year-old taxi driver was arrested by Vasco police for raping a 20-year-old girl near the Dabolim International Airport in South Goa.
The chief inspector, Nolasco Raposo, said the victim was out walking Thursday night, when Bhat, the taxi driver stopped by her side and offered her a elevator.
"When she refused, the victim claimed that she was forced into the car, taken to a deserted area and raped," said Mr. Raposo
. A first report of information was recorded by the police late on Thursday evening under articles 365 (kidnapping), 376 (rape) and the accused was arrested Friday morning after a search operation.
A Vasco local court sent the accused back to custody for seven days, the police said.
