PETALING JAYA: Khairy Jamaluddin rejected the offer of the new president of Umno, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, to be the general secretary from Barisan Nasional (BN).

Khairy thanked Zahid, who beat him in the race for the Umno presidency, but said that he did not want to hold a high-level position within the party.

"I want to focus on my job as an MP Ready to offer my help and always with Umno," said Rembau MP on Twitter

Zahid said today that he would offer a post to the former youth leader to help the party move forward.

Yesterday, in a series Khairy thanked the delegates of Umno for embracing democracy in the party.

He also said in a tweet today that the majority of Umno delegates wanted to change but the "warlords" had threatened them to support their choices.

He said that the popular vote in the election of Umno showed that most members wanted change but that the college system favored the warlords.

He said that the actual count of votes showed that there was great support for him.
