A Delhi court ordered the registration of the first report of information against the son of veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty Mahaakshay and his wife Yogita Bali on a complaint of rape and cheating filed by a woman. The Metropolitan Magistrate Ekta Gauba stated prima facie that there was sufficient reason to register a FIR against the wife of Mr. Chakraborty, Yogita Bali, and their son Mahaakshay, and to go further, in accordance with the law
. alleged that Mahaakshay had deceived and raped her under the pretext of marriage.
The woman alleged that when she became pregnant, Mahaakshay gave her medications that led to an abortion.
In her complaint, she said that Yogita Bali had threatened her with serious consequences if she continued the relationship. The complainant also told the court that she had moved to Delhi from Mumbai, fearing for her life, given threats made by Bali and her son.
Taking note of the accusations made by the woman, the court stated that the police were necessary "keeping in view the high and influential status of respondents 1 and 2 being the son and wife of the famous and veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty ".
