The actress took her official Instagram account and issued a statement, in which she talked about her illness, and how she fights the deadly disease with all her might.
The actress wrote: "Sometimes, when you least expect it, life launches you a curve … I was recently diagnosed with a high-grade metastatic cancer, which that we have not frankly seen coming. Tests, which led to this unexpected diagnosis: my family and close friends gathered around me, providing the best support system that anyone can ask for, I am very lucky and grateful for each and every one of you them. And, as my doctors advised, I am currently undergoing treatment in New York, we remain optimistic and I am determined to fight every step of the way. tremendous outpouring of love and support that I have received in recent days, which I am very grateful, I am taking this battle head-on, knowing that I have the strength of my family and of my friends behind me.

On television, she has been part of several shows, including Sapne Mission, India Got Talent, Ajeeb Daastaan and Hai Ye India's Best Dramebaaz.
Sonali, who turned for a few episodes of India's best Dramebaaz, took a break from all her work commitments for her treatment in New York.
The creators of the show roped Huma Qureshi to take Sonali's place as judge in the show.
