The French team of Sophie Dodemont, Amélie Sancenot and Sandra Herve held their nerves aboard the Indians 229-228 after four rounds.
The Indian archers started well by taking a two point lead at the end of the first round, which ended at 59-57, but the France team leveled it to 116-116. However, the decisive moment came in the third round when the Indians hit a seven and a six to concede a five-point lead.
France, too, stumbled on the last lap by reaching seven and eight, but its lead proved too important for India which scored 59/60 but was found behind a solitary point.
The Indian team had reached the final after defeating Turkey (231-238) in the semifinals. Before that, they beat Great Britain (224-223) in the first round and the United States (232-228) in the quarterfinals.
Indian archers misbehaved in individual events, while Atanu Das, Deepika Kumari, Abhishek Verma and Trisha failed to qualify for the rounds of their respective events.
