The Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty posted a Facebook post explaining why he did not sign the petition written by a group of social activists and filmmakers demanding the overthrow of the government's decision of #############################################################################> 39 invite Mohanlal as the main guest of this year's State Awards Ceremony.

Resul stated in his message that while he fully agrees with the first part of the petition that says the chief minister should distribute the awards, he does not support the second part of the petition which requires that Mohnalal be held out of office. .
The famous sound designer said that guests to the function are an important figure of Malayalam cinema and that being the main guest will not be a cultural problem as claimed by the faction of the people who are against the government's decision. Pookutty added that mainstream cinema is what supports this industry and there is no need to disrespect mainstream cinema. He ended his position by advising the protesters to "grow up".
