Since this memorable occasion, India has traveled to England 17 times and has tasted three serial victories. Here we take a look at the five most memorable victories of India on English soil.
1) 1971 Tour – 3rd Test at the Oval, London – Chandrasekhar Won the India to Momentous Series
The Indian team had already created the history in 1971, after winning his first Test series at West Indies, despite some hostile Caribbean bowling. Captain Ajit Wadekar's team traveled to England later in the year, with one of the best young openers in the world, namely Sunil Gavaskar, and a spin attack that could rival the best in the world.

The Indians have established themselves as one of the world's leading underdogs after their respective victories in World Cup and Cricket Championship. The first test was played at Lord's where India had failed to win in 10 previous games, losing eight and shooting two. A century of Graham Gooch (114) gave the hosts a good start after being put in play, but the young paceman Chetan Sharma canceled the damage by scoring a five-wicket shot while England was eliminated for 294 when first rounds. The Indian team made his tour of England without a coach. Greg Chappell resigned after the debacle of the 2007 ICC World Cup. The Indian locker room was not the happiest place of the time and they managed to survive a first test loss through the skin of their teeth.
Rahul Dravid and his men traveled to Nottingham for the second test. he raised his hand and happened, and this performance came from paceman Zaheer Khan. The left arm of the blaze picked up four wickets while England was knocked down for 198.

The formation of Indian rappers was highly applauded, five of them recording half a century. Sachin Tendulkar (91) and Sourav Ganguly (79) came back with a 96-point lead while India put pressure on a big mammoth of 481.
A deficit of 283 points meant that England needed a strong comeback and captain Michael Vaughan scored a belligerent 124 to lead a rearguard. But a frugal dismissal ended the vigil of Vaughan and with that the chances of England went. Khan completed a deserved five-wicket shot while England was eliminated for 355, giving India a 73-point target to win the match. Tourists recorded an emphatic win of 7-wicket that laid the foundation for a win in England.

The drummers of both teams clashed at the second test in Nottingham and the hosts watched a string of victories in Leeds as a green summit greeted the Indians. Ganguly however decided to catch the bull by the horn and chose to hit first after winning the throw.
The English sailors gave everything to the Indians in their arsenal, but Sanjay Bangar (68th) and Rahul Dravid (148th) defended themselves.

The duo showed a lot of temperament and application on a difficult terrain while they badembled a second 170-point wicket to lay the groundwork for a huge total of first rounds for the # 39; India. Sachin Tendulkar (193) and Sourav Ganguly (128) showed their clbad by decimating a hapless English attack while India declared its first runs in 628.

India needed a strong reaction to stay afloat in the match and the top order responded. Murali Vijay 's 95 hit was the cornerstone of the Indian innings but a middle order collapse brought England back into the account. Ravindra Jadeja (68) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (52) set an eighth wicket of 99 points to bring the Indian total to 343.
England needed 319 points to win the Test but Ishant Sharma produced a short bowling masterclbad to bounce the hosts off the match. He picked up 7 seconds of team runs while India ran after a 95-point win, his first win at Lord's in 28 years.
