Vinita Nanda calls misogyny, patriarchy

After publicizing his horrific account of badual misconduct at the hands of actor Alok Nath, writer Vinita Nanda expected an apology, at the very least, of the Wrongdoer. Instead, she received a legal opinion of defamation.

Although shocked by this decision, Nanda says she is not really surprised. She says, "This is what is called patriarchy. You do something wrong, then use another woman, in this case, your wife, to protect you. And you ask the person to whom you have made an apology. In addition, you claim to have made the life of the complainant. Such behavior is called misogyny and patriarchy.

Since Vinita's public statement, other women, including actress Sandhya Mridul, have also told their stories about Alok Nath's misconduct. But the author points out that only the disgraced actress is targeting her.

"He filed a complaint for defamation against me alone. The same is true of Priya Ramani. She has 12 women at her side condemning the alleged predatory behavior of MJ Akbar, but she is attacked alone, "she said.

According to his statements, it seems that Alok Nath feels no shame at his alleged acts, but Vinita thinks otherwise. "He probably feels ashamed because he's committed a mistake and he's been summoned. But had he felt remorse, he should have to admit it and apologize. Unfortunately, this is not the case, "she says.

If he acted badly, is not that an excuse he can offer for repentance, we wonder? "I guess the excuses are the least and most predictable," says Vinita.
