The much awaited Vijay-starrer Sarkar seems to have been in trouble. A man filed a civil lawsuit in Madras High Court with the aim of restricting the film's release for failing to recognize him as the author of the narrative and script. He also requested payment of approximately 30 lakh.
Judge Sundar Wednesday authorized Mr. Purushothaman, counsel for the plaintiff, Varun Rajendran, to have his case heard on the same day. However, later, he was informed that the director of the film, A.R. Murugadoss and the producer Sun Pictures had already filed opposition petitions.
The judge ordered the lawyer to serve a copy of the complaint on the opponents and to inform them of the scheduled hearing on Thursday. Opponents must be heard before the court makes an order, especially when the litigant has insisted on restricting the release without acknowledging his or her contribution.
In his complaint, the litigant claimed to have written in 2007 an article on the feeling of a law student. discouraged not to be able to express his vote due to a sham vote. Therefore, he decides to sensitize the population to the fact that every vote counts in a democracy.
The 100-page narrative written by the complainant was registered with the South Indian Film Writers Association (SIFWA) in 2007. Again in 2011, the applicant had also recorded another alternative climax for the same story. He alleged that the history of Sarkar was only a reproduction of his history with aesthetic changes.
He claimed that Mr. Murugadoss had just changed the protagonist so that he would become a foreign returning businessman and not a law student. However, the underlying theme of the story was the same and even the personality of the acclaimed film, K. Bhagyaraj, who was president of SIFWA, had confirmed after going through both scenarios, did -he badures.
