A former Pakistani judge, named Sikandar Hayat, was identified Saturday as having more than 2,200 cars registered in his name.

Hayat's lawyer, Mian Zafar, however, told the Supreme Court of Pakistan that his client only owned one car, reported Dawn.

"2,224 cars were registered in my client's name," Zafar said.

Hayat's lawyer also said that a few days ago, the former judge had received a challan (fine) for a car that he did not own.

After the Punjab Excise and Taxes Department was informed of the same thing, it appeared that Hayat was the registered owner of 2,224 vehicles. The Supreme Court ordered the secretary and the director of the Punjab Excise Department to file a report on this matter.

The court asked for the report within the week.
