Scientists observe a vast cloud spreading out of Mars.
The star hovers above a volcano on the surface of Mars. But this does not seem to be linked to volcanic activity, but rather to a cloud of ice water pushed by the volcano.
That did not stop many from speculating that the images show a huge fire burning on the planet, although technically impossible. And some even went so far as to suggest that the activity could be related to extraterrestrial life, a newspaper suggesting that the evidence could be concealed by NASA.

But the explanation is much colder: it is not hot, but very cold. Clouds of water ice condense on the summit of the volcano, called Asia Mons, and spread to the surface.
The images were collected by the Mars Express ship of the European Space Agency. They were spotted for the first time in late September and were spotted throughout the month of October, producing hundreds of photos.
