Aamir Khan's consistent incoherence has always worked. Could Thugs of Hindostan start again? | Bollywood

On Koffee With Karan's episode Sunday, host Karan Johar asked Aamir Khan a question that is often asked of actors: how does he choose a project? Over the years, different actors have given different answers to this question. Some seek a lead role, others want a big paycheck, while others, like Shah Rukh Khan, say yes to the director rather than a scenario. However, Aamir's response was so precise that she put her entire career in the cinema.

Karan asked Aamir how he always chose to make socially relevant films. Aamir quickly corrected: even with a film like Dangal, his priority was not to spread a positive message in society, but he had chosen it because it was a good project.

"My fundamental responsibility as an actor is to be excited about what I am doing," he said, and that is what makes Aamir the machine to play the role of the slot machine that the whole world is getting respect.

From small towns to metropolises, from multiplexes to individual screens, from Indians to Chinese, Aamir's films find an audience everywhere that seduces with his big heart and his ability to beat him every time with a flawless performance . With four titles of "Most Successful Indian Films" acquired over a career spanning more than three decades, Aamir seems to have decoded what it takes to make a film that speaks to people and to everyone .

However, learning to find it took years of hard work and a steady failure for Aamir. After appearing as the "little boy who needed to pee" at Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Aamir made his debut at Holi, a home as serene as possible to Bollywood. Soon, he had his second chance to prove himself with Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak in 1988 and the film launched him as a star to watch. Over the next decade, he gave hits like Dil, Dai Hai Maanta Ke Nahi, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar and Raja Hindustani, which became the most successful Hindi film of all time in 1996. However, there are had disappointments like Isi Ka Naam Zindagi and Daulat Ki Jung.

Until the end of this era, Aamir was still traveling the journey, the hero of Goody chocolate playing a role in romantic dramas. Of course, there were some slight deviations from the standard here and there with roles like Rangeela or Ghulam, Aamir only broke his image in 1999, in Sarfarosh. This film was critically successful and the only real effort he needed to get rid of the romantic image of loverboy and to look for fleshier roles in various genres.

After the slight burst of films like Mela and Mann, it will remain the film that will count forever among the greatest Hindi films ever made, Lagaan. The Oscar-nominated film was what Aamir needed to let the world know that it had happened. He was obviously enthusiastic about the film, the story, the screenplay, and the film as a whole, and carried that thought with him in all the projects that followed.

From true Bhuvan to Lagaan, Aamir took a 180-degree turn to turn himself into a goof with a goatee at Dil Chahta Hai in the role of Akaash. A youth film for young men living in urban India, it was different from anything we had seen in Bollywood. Aamir knew that it was the only movie to which he devoted his time and energy, and the result was spectacular. I personally believe that these two films are the most spectacular work of Aamir.

Aamir took a four-year break after the divorce with Reena Dutta. He is back in 2005 with Mangal Pandey. The film also received polarized reviews but still managed to be one of the most successful movies of the year. With his newfound confidence, Aamir has peddled a mega success after another. Immediately after Mangal Pandey's rampaging seve, Aamir turned into a carefree, carefree and reluctant Delhi University elder at Rang De Basanti, a film that touched a million hearts.

His next two films, Fanaa and Taare Zameer Par also earned a ton of money, and the latter – which also marked Aamir's project – prompted a whole nation of adults to cry when thinking about their mothers. . Taare Zameen Par was sensitive, beautiful and a brilliant example of art having a purpose.

However, he was not yet immersed in the crore club of 100 rupees that accompanied his next film, Ghajini. This is the first Indian film to break the barrier and offers him his second "most successful Indian film of all time". This film is a romantic action film that is a remake of Christopher Nolan's Memento. Aamir gave not only his mind but also his body to the role as he gained a lot of weight and muscle to represent a revenge killing machine.

Aamir broke his own record one year later with 3 Idiots, a Hindi film. this has become a worldwide success in the true sense. The Chinese fell in love with the movie and Aamir. It is an admiration they still feed in their hearts. The romantic all-in-one musical comedy drama was also the first Hindi film to break the 200 crore mark.

Movies like Dhoom 3 and PK continued the trend for Aamir until Baahubali overshadowed everything. The film was a box office kill and it seemed that nothing could compete with its success. Or what it looked like before Aamir unleashed the beast that was Dangal.

The sporting drama about a strict father and his daughters has enjoyed unprecedented international success in Bollywood films. Aamir's dedicated fans in China, along with the film's great story and performance, have helped make this film the most successful Indian film of all time. He made 2,100 crores of rupees worldwide.

Over the years, Aamir has found the recipe for making the perfect movie. Beautiful authentic shows, a story that touches hearts, accompanied by countless entertainment. However, he confessed on Koffee With Karan that Thugs of Hindostan is the only movie he says he chose because he fell in love with his character.

Of course, there does not seem to be any underlying message to Thugs of Hindostan apart from sound entertainment. Could this new strategy of choice of roles prove dangerous for Aamir? Or is he too familiar with the job to know a lot when he sees it? We will know in a few days.
