Sorry, Nintendo Wii console users: "Wii Sports" console loses Netflix in January 2019.
Specifically, effective January 30 all online services for the Nintendo Wii will be disabled. No need for the Wii Shop Channel and Virtual Console to purchase games or video streaming services, including Netflix.
The service lasted a little over eight years on the Nintendo Wii and arrived for the first time in 2010. It quickly became popular on the Wii – a measure of the huge popularity of the console at the time even where services like Netflix were evolving towards giant video streaming.
With over 100 million Nintendo Wii consoles sold in 2016, the Wii is Nintendo's best-selling home gaming console of all time. Game consoles, less expensive than the Wii, are the best.
For now, Netflix will continue to run on the Nintendo Wii. But do not worry too much about its impending closure. In 2018, Netflix works on almost anything, from your smartphone to your TV, to the very cheap Google Chromecast dongle.
