The Mi 8 Lite is Xiaomi's first device to feature a gradient paint job. It uses the so-called nano-sputtering process that also created the gradient back of the Huawei P20 Pro. But there is more than that: the back of the Mi 8 Lite is actually a clear glbad that, when placed on a dark surface, produces a gradient effect. But how is it?
Xiaomi explains that the designers had a hard time producing the gradient and that the key is in the clear glbad panel. It is subjected to many layers of coating forming a difference in nanoscale thickness on the surface, which is not visible to the naked eye, but when placed on a dark surface and under optimal lighting conditions, the color begins to change.
Xiaomi even released a video showcasing the effect (on the source link below) and indicated that users can remove the rear window and see for themselves if they do not believe it . Although it is certainly not recommended.
