Do you want videos on your phone, tablet, computer, or connected TV? It is likely that you are probably watching content on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video. Both services have become increasingly popular in India over the past year. And rightly so. Amazon and Netflix have been extremely successful at entertaining their audience. Both companies are spending billions of dollars to create interesting content for Indian users. But if you have to choose between the two, which is the best? In fact it depends. Both have demerits. As for Netflix, I'll give you five reasons why it's a better choice.
Amazon has been successful in series like Sacred Games, Goliath or The Grand Tour, and Netflix has a large fan base for series like House of Cards, Costumes and Strange Things. If you compare the prices of both services, Prime marks a point here because it is much cheaper than Netflix. The annual premium subscription in India costs 999 Rs and 129 Rs a month. In comparison, the cheapest monthly plan offered by Netflix starts at Rs 500 and rises to Rs 800. The annual cost of Netflix is higher than that of Prime. In fact, for many people in India, Amazon Prime is free for a year due to the bundle offered with their postpaid mobile plan.
But video streaming services have a specific purpose. One expects them to be as entertaining and as good as the television shows of yesteryear. You do not want to feel like a person buying a cheap ticket for a movie and you later regret not having spent a few dollars more for a movie that is much better. I used both Netflix and Prime. Although both offer you quality video viewing time, I prefer Netflix one day longer than Prime. Here are my five points to help you understand why I'm doing it.
1. Best International Content on Netflix: Netflix has more international content than Amazon Prime. And by international content, I do not speak only English. The service includes content from various countries such as Pakistan, Turkey, China and others, as well as subtitles. This type of depth in the content is lacking in Prime.
2. Netflix has more originals: Netflix and Amazon offer original TV shows that are exclusive to them. But Netflix has more of these emissions. In addition, Netflix has entered the market with a rich library of original content. In contrast, Prime has a small number of originals that could be enriched in the future.
3. The Netflix app is more user-friendly and attractive: Netflix has bigger icons with bright colors than Prime. It has a visual appeal and the video streaming quality of Netflix seems better than Prime's. Although it is something personal, the type of user interface that you like or do not like can also depend on your own preferences.
4. Netflix dedicated button in the set-top box: Initially, Netflix reached an agreement with the cable operators to introduce a dedicated button into the set-top box remote control. Subscribers can also pay their Netflix bill using their cable subscription bill. The US streaming service has joined forces with Tata Sky, Airtel and Hathway.
5. Netflix Profiles: This is a major difference between two streaming services and one of the main reasons why Netflix has an advantage over Prime. In the case of Prime, if two members watch the same show on their own and one of them wants to start again, the other person must also watch the show from the beginning. This is not the case in Netflix. It allows members to create their own profiles and watch their own shows without disturbing others.
