With the exception of a few unpopular tablets, so far all Microsoft Surface devices are equipped with Intel processors. But that could change next year.
Brad Sams has just published a book on the history and future of Microsoft Surface Products, which includes information on Microsoft's roadmap for the coming year.
Sams indicates that this includes an updated Surface Studio in 2020 and an updated Surface Laptop that is expected to be released approximately one year ago – and at least some models may include AMD chips rather than Intel processors .
It is unclear whether this means that Microsoft is planning to play AMD extensively, but the company apparently has not been satisfied with the time it took Intel to to go from 14 nm to 10 nm.
