A FIR has been filed against the Assamese singer Zubeen Garg for allegedly abusing the Bharat Ratna Prize – details inside

The popular singer Zubeen Garg, known for playing the song Ya Ali of Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut and Shiney Ahuja, is in conflict with the law. A viral soundtrack surfaced on the internet, in which the singer was accused of abusing the Bharat Ratna's civil award, the highest Indian award, which was recently awarded to the Bhupen Hazarika Assumption legend, posthumously for his contribution to Indian music.

Satya Ranjan Borah, a Bharatiya Janata Party official in Assam, filed a FIR against the singer in Lanka, Hojai District.

"We recorded a FIR and investigated the short audio clip supposed to be Garg's voice. In the viral clip, the Bharat Ratna was mistreated, "said Ankur Jain, the superintendent of the Hojai Police, as reported by HT. The official confirmed, however, that the police still lacked video evidence of the event in which Garg was alleged to have abused Bharat Ratna. Incidentally, Zubeen Garg, who he is publicly opposed to citizenship (Amendment) Bill, wrote a new song to protest against the decision of the central government of the BJP. In the new song, it is written: "Politics na karibo Bandhu … (do not do politics, my friend) before having abused the Bharat Ranta, in the song. Police will still need to authenticate the evidence they have (the voice clip) and obtain video evidence from Zubeen Garg before they can take an official action against the singer. Garg was also the one who sang the BJP's campaign song for the 2016 Assembly elections in Assam. However, the singer had subsequently offered to return the money paid to him and had written an open letter to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal opposing the Citizenship Bill (amendment).
