"In the world of theater, we finally succeeded," he told Radio 1 Newsbeat. "We are not just perceived as black actors or black people to be included in movies or on television."

Alex says that he is not surprised that it was not until 2018 before Black Panther was shot, but that the film was an inspiration.

"I felt so proud last night that Black Panther won the award.As a black actor, it made me think that anything is possible and that your abilities are limitless."
