The star of the black panther Chadwick Boseman said that the film had changed what it means to be "young, talented" and black.

He then expressed that the cast won the Best Ensemble Award at the 25th Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG)

The success of Black Panther is not in doubt. The film took more than one billion dollars (794 million pounds) at the global box office a month after its release in February 2018, was hailed as a revolution, including by Michelle Obama, for having a cast basically black and a black director.

But has his success had an impact on the career prospects of other black actors?

Alex Okoampa thinks so. He is 23 years old and tours with Motown The Musical.

"In the world of theater, we finally succeeded," he told Radio 1 Newsbeat. "We are not just perceived as black actors or black people to be included in movies or on television."

Alex says that he is not surprised that it was not until 2018 before Black Panther was shot, but that the film was an inspiration.

"I felt so proud last night that Black Panther won the award.As a black actor, it made me think that anything is possible and that your abilities are limitless."

Kiki Brown, 25, is an actress and works for Tiata Fahodzi, an African theater company.

"I think it can still be difficult for a young black actor because I feel like I'm not represented," she told Radio 1. Newsbeat.

"A casting director told me that the roles I was going to have were likely to be: single mother, prostitute, nurse, I do not have a doctor, lawyer, or anything whatever it is. "

But she has the impression that Black Panther has helped to change things.

"I think people now consider us pretenders."

Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge who was part of the Enterprice of the BBC Three is in agreement with Kiki.

"Before knocking on people's doors, but I hope that there will not be only people approaching us," he told Radio 1 Newsbeat.

But it's not just actors: Trieve wants to see more black writers and producers: "I hope we do our own things."
