James Gunn in talks to lead the suicide group – is it a sequel or a restart?

This is not a surprise to all of us, let's be honest. After being sacked by Disney and the fate of The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 currently in the air, screenwriter / director James Gunn was working on a new screenplay for a film Suicide Squad for DC. Of course, even if it was never said, we all badumed that, finally, Gunn would also arrive at the position of director on this film.

Low and here is a report from THR indicates that Gunn is actually in discussion directing the scenario that he wrote for the next film Suicide Squad . One could imagine that these discussions will progress well and I think we can say pretty much that, except for some radical differences of opinion, Gunn will write and direct the film for WB / DC.

The report of THR also indicates whether there is a sequel to Suicide Squad or a complete restart of the franchise. The film currently bears the title The Suicide Squad and is not positioned as a sequel, but as a relaunch of the franchise. The original film featured many traditional characters Suicide Squad such as Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, etc., as well as the semi-antagonistic aspect of Jared Leto's Joker. The sources of the point of sale indicate that the film of Gunn will lead the franchise in a new direction with a brand new series of characters and actors. Their sources also say that this project is deeply rooted in Gunn's normal mood.

I despised the original film Suicide Squad to the point that I do not think I can look at it a second time. It just did not make me happy and I'm 100% convinced that James Gunn can produce a better film than this one, even on holidays. It will be interesting to see this film develop, see who will be cast and in what roles. The fact that Gunn writes and directs this film instantly raises him to the rank of my most anticipated CD film. Watch this space.
