Los Angeles: The Trench is becoming a sequel to the horror movie Aquaman, released last year.
The Warner Bros studio engaged Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald to write a screenplay. Trench-centered, deadly amphibious creatures who attacked Aquaman (actor Jason Momoa) and Mera (actress Amber Heard) in the film, reports varieties.com.
The project will take place in the underwater kingdom of the Marianas Trench, where a group of original inhabitants was sent after the sinking of Atlantis and became a wild monster.
James Wan and Peter Safran will produce The Trench, which is developed as a cheaper version of Aquaman without the main cast. No director or cast is still attached.
The creatures of the trench were created by Geoff Johns and presented as antagonists in the scenario of Aquaman in DC Comics in 2011.
