My Name Is RaGa Teaser: This Rahul Gandhi biopic looks like a parody

Indian cinema has seen an avalanche of biographical films tinged with politics. I say tinted because they have only a weak connection to real events. These are first dramas, political biopics later. Shortly after the biopic of Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of Accident and Thackeray of Nawazuddin Siddiqui, a teaser for My Name Is RaGa was published.

RaGa, in case you do not know, is a diminutive of Rahul Gandhi, the descendant of the Gandhi family and president of the Indian National Congress. The teaser is ridiculously bad.

The clip begins with Rahul as a child, whom we see in the pool under the proud gaze of Indira Gandhi. The pool is set right in front of a sumptuous palace to show Rahul's lavish education. He is then shown straightening the leg of a dirty doll somewhere. And then there is a sequence that shows Indira getting shot and Rahul crying over the incident. Still in mourning, he asks his father, Rajiv, if he would be killed too.

Dr. Manmohan seems to inform Rahul: "Ab tumhara samay aa chuka hai. Ab tumhe chamakna hai. "(Now, the time has come.It's time to shine.") The actor who plays the role of Dr. Manmohan makes an impression even worse than that of Anupam Kher.
