The death toll after the tragedy rose to 38 years and the suicide bomber was identified as Adil Ahmad Dar aka Waqas Commando. He came from the town of Kakapora, in Pulwama district.

The deadly attack shook the nation and many paid tribute to the dead on social networks while condemning this terrorist act. Many Bollywood celebrities have also sent messages conveying their deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.

Shah Rukh Khan tweeted with the caption: "Sincere condolences to the families of our valiant jaws. May the souls of our compatriots who gave their lives for us rest in peace. #Pulwama "

On the other hand, Hrithik Roshan wrote:" Deeply grieved to have heard of the Pulwama attack. My deepest condolences to the families of the martyred Jawans. "

This suicide bombing is considered the worst terrorist attack committed by J & K since 1989.
