Netflix canceled the last two of its Marvel shows – Jessica Jones and The Punisher – announced Monday, ending the partnership with Marvel Television started in 2015 with Daredevil. This means that Jessica Jones' third season, scheduled for release in 2019, will be the last piece of content that Netflix-Marvel fans will have to see. Iron Fist was the first to leave last October, followed by Luke Cage a week later and Daredevil at the end of November. Jessica Jones and The Punisher were the last two and their fate is now settled, which is hardly surprising.

In a statement published in Deadline and other publications, Netflix said:

"The Marvel Penalist not coming back for a third season on Netflix. The showrunner Steve Lightfoot, his fantastic team and his outstanding cast, including star Jon Bernthal, presented a popular and compelling series for fans, and we are proud to present their work on Netflix for years to come. "

" For our Marvel programming, we decided that the third season in coming would also be the last season for Marvel's Jessica Jones. We are grateful to star player Melissa Rosenberg, star Krysten Ritter and all of the cast and crew for three incredible seasons of this groundbreaking series, which has been awarded many other Peabody Awards. "

years of our successful partnership and thank the pbadionate fans who this series from the beginning. "

Hours later, Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television channel issued a statement via Marvel.com: [19659003"Iln'ajamaisétéfaitavantQuatresériestéléviséesdistincteschacuneavecdesauteursdesscénaristesdesréalisateursdesacteursetuneéquipesupertalentueuxsesuccédantàdesmoisetseretrouvantensuitedansuneseuleséried'événementssedéroulantaucœurdeNewYorkNouslesavonsappeléslesdéfenseursEtensemblenousavonsétéenchantésparlesrécitsdeDaredevildeJessicaJonesdeLukeCaged'IronFistetmêmeduPunisher"

" They said that it could not be done. But Marvel has badembled incredible teams to write, produce, direct, edit and score 13 seasons and 161 episodes of one hour. Take a moment to go online and check out the dazzling list of actors, writers, directors and musicians who gave us the best of their art. We loved every minute. And we did everything for you – the fans – who encouraged us around the world and made all the hard work worthwhile. So thanks!

"On behalf of everyone at Marvel Television, we could not be more proud or grateful to our audience. Our network partner may have decided that he no longer wanted to tell the story of these great characters … but you know Marvel better than that. As Matthew Murdock's father once said: "The measure of a man is not the way he is hit at the mat, that's how he gets up." To continue …!

Loeb's words suggest that the series – or characters – could be resurrected on Disney + or Hulu, a majority stake of Disney once its acquisition of Fox ended. Disney + leader Kevin Mayer suggested that this possibility was also a "possibility". But there are reservations here, as the contracts announced between Netflix and Marvel TV would not allow such a move before two years. And in an Instagram post, Ritter mentioned the "series finale" and called Jessica Jones season 3 "the last season", which "would complete the trip [Jessica's]".

Time will tell what's going on.
