Filmed in Chambal, the film takes place in the 1970s and showcases a small city ruled and dominated by dacoits interpreted by Sushant, Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey and others. The film contains a lot of explosives and received an "A" certificate after the director incorporated three changes suggested by the Central Film Certification Commission (CBFC).

Director Abhishek Chaubey says that the history of dacoits Chambal Valley is relevant in that it speaks of "gender and caste discrimination", problems that persist in society. Chaubey, known for his stories of the heart of the country, such as Ishqiya, Dedh Ishqiya and Udta Punjab, has always thought that Chambal would be a fantastic setting for a movie.

"We went there and started reading about the bandits, meeting people who were either bandits or police or who had interacted with bandits. We found this fascinating bandit culture and we wanted to explore this space and its problems in a thrilling action space, "Chaubey told PTI. The film's release is scheduled for March 1st.
