The Mexican film "Roma" about a housekeeper belonging to a middle-clbad family in the 1970s won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film on Sunday.
Netflix's black and white film, directed and written by Alfonso Cuaron, Mexico's first Oscar win, has already won numerous awards this year.
The film is inspired by the childhood of Cuaron and a housekeeper who helped him grow up.
The title is taken from the Colonia Roma neighborhood in Mexico City where Cuaron grew up.
"Roma" stars Yalitza Aparicio, a housekeeper named Cleo, who gets pregnant while she is taking care of his wife a family of four while the parents are separating. The political turmoil in Mexico serves as a backdrop, with Cleo witnessing the 1971 mbadacre of protesters that ushered in a "dirty war" against dissidents.
