The 2019 Oscars went wild – thanks in large part to Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph and Amy Poehler – but the majority of the audience forgot the best joke of the night.

Trevor Noah, host of The Daily Show on Comedy Central, made the joke by presenting the film nominated for best film Black Panther on Sunday night (February 24).

Noé played in the Marvel movie with Griot after helping his director Ryan Coogler research on African history. During his presentation, he joked about the surprising number of people who thought that Wakanda was really a place after watching the movie.

Then came the secret gag.

Trevor delivered a little xhosa (spoken in South Africa and is the official language of Zimbabwe). seemed to translate immediately.
