"The first time I heard the script, I was honestly broke.You have these characters on the way to discover their own truth and, through the story, Abhishek, sir, commented many things that are still topical and dominant in our society, "Bhumi said during the screening.
The film uses the backdrop of the Chambal valley and comments with force on the inherent casteism and strong patriarchy.
For Bhumi, playing his character, victim of patriarchy, was a process of great introspection. 19659004] "I started to question my life." I told him, "I am this city dweller. I have an opinion and I have a lot of ego. I have the power and I am strong. "But there is a huge part of society that still does not have the power to say no, the kind of things that happen to my character was so heartbreaking to me.
" What I'm saying is that love the most in my character, is that this girl does not know if she has opinions or if she has strength, but she is pushed into a deep corner where her natural instincts manifest themselves ", has she she added.
Bhumi also congratulated Abhishek for braiding the cleavage of the castes in the film.
"The story that Abhishek used, he talked about the caste bias that we have in our country.We obviously do not realize it but it's really deep."
After the projection , the film was ovationné. Abhishek said he was happy to see "an almost-filled theater" for the film on which they have been working for almost three years.
Sonchiriya is released on March 15th.
