The first complete trailer of Disney's live-action Aladdin was stopped on Tuesday, offering our most detailed look at the remake directed by Guy Ritchie.
The film, which comes out on May 24, was plagued by delays and some minor casting controversies. The whitewash charges flew in 2017 when the English actor Tom Hardy was mentioned as an opportunity to play the main villain, Jafar, in a movie taking place in a fictional Middle Eastern kingdom.
Disney ends up introducing Mena Mbadoud, a Canadian of Egyptian descent. actor, to play the titular character; Marwan Kenzari, a Dutch actor of Tunisian origin, will play Jafar; and Naomi Scott, of British and Indian descent, interpret the role of Princess Jasmine

. This new trailer opens on a scene recalling the continuation of the market in the animated version of 1992. Here are nine other things we noticed:
– Will Smith is not blue all the time.
Some fans were very upset that Will Smith was a very blue genius when a shorter trailer aired on the Grammy television broadcast last month.
This longer look at the movie reveals that Smith will not be blue all the time. So, you know, balance.
– Few songs, huh?
Genie sings a punchy number, but his fans' favorite, "A Whole New World" closes the trailer and continues to play the nostalgia factor heavily.
But expect a few new songs in the full movie, including a duet between Jasmine and Aladdin, as well as a song about jasmine.
– Jafar is not scary at all.
In the original Disney movie of 1992, Jafar has a very sinister atmosphere. But when Kenzari was chosen to play the grand vizier of Agrabah, many proclaimed that the "hot Jafar" had arrived.
In these new scenes, Kenzari's Jafar does not really look bad. It looks like my youngest cousin (who is a good kid!).
– However, Abu is.
Maybe a monkey cartoon will always be more delightful than any other version, but this CGI take on Aladdin's teammate, Abu has less sbady mood and sweet, and more atmosphere of flying monkey "Wizard of Oz". I think that Abu should lay the trumpet and find the rest of his family of monkeys.
– Everyone is very dressed.
Unlike the cartoon, Aladdin wears a shirt and do not think I did not notice. The bare belly of Jasmine is also covered.
