Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn will play in the drama of the upcoming period of the filmmaker SS Rajamouli RRR announced the directors Thursday. The film, titled by Telugu actors, NT Rama Rao Jr ( Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava, 2018; Temper, 2015) and Ram Charan ( Rangarhalhalam, Magadheera, 2009), is due to appear on July 30, 2020.
The drama of the period is a fiction drawing from the life of freedom fighters Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju, the makers said. Filmed in the 1920s, the film follows their early years "away from home (in Delhi) before starting to fight for the country," according to his official synopsis. RRR would be published in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam and other Indian languages.
Produced by DVV Entertainment, the film will also feature Tamil actor Samuthirakani and British actress Daisy Edgar Jones. This is Rajamouli's first film after his blockbuster Baahubali film Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017).
