Ishq Vishk was centered on three characters and their close friends. Rajiv (Shahid Kapoor) and Payal (Amrita Rao) are childhood friends and study in the same college. He goes to school for a few days, so that his clbadmates stop teasing him for want of a girlfriend and let him follow a couple's journey. His best friend, Mambo (Vishal Malhotra) is also in the game. Payal breaks with Rajiv after discovering his mobile. After a major confrontation, Rajiv starts dating Alisha, the hottest girl in college. The story revolved around his love triangle and the way Payal and Rajiv ended up together.
Since the film became a hit, Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao were paired again in Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi! Shikhar and Vivah .
