On the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the birth of Shashi Kapoor, his nephew and veteran actor, Rishi Kapoor, remembered the late actor-filmmaker. Rishi used social media and published two photographs of the actor Deewar when awarding the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2015.

Rishi, currently on medical treatment in New York for an undisclosed illness, also shared a photo . Shashi with his children – Kunal Kapoor and Sanjana Kapoor. Amitabh Bachchan, who has collaborated with Shashi in several films such as Amar Akbar Anthony, Deewar and Namak Halal to name a few, remembered him while mourning the loss of Goa's chief minister, Manohar Parrikar.

Shashi, younger brother of Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor, made his screen debut in the realization of Raj, Aag as a child actor. In 1961, Shashi made his debut as a full-fledged hero in Yash Chopra's film Dharmputra, before having many years in the film industry.

For his contribution to Indian cinema, the American artist has been awarded three times by the National Awards. He also received Padma Bhushan. Films such as Deewar, Satyam Shivam Sundaram and Kabhie Kabhie were among his iconic films

As a producer, he has worked on Juno, Vijeta and 36 Chowringhee Lane. Later, he made his directorial debut in 1991 with Ajooba. Shashi died in 2017 after battling liver cirrhosis. He was 79 years old.
