Sun TV, which returned to the market with an explosion, acquired satellite rights to another major project after Rajinikanth's Petta. The main TV channel Tamil GEC (General Entertainment Channel) has seized the television rights of the next film of Vijay, currently known as Thalapathy 63.
According to reported information, the chains have closed the transaction for a price undisclosed, but industry people say that the chain has recorded a record amount to beat the competition.
Thalapathy 63 is a sporting drama filled with action and Vijay brand comedy. It seems that the film deals with corruption related to the sport of football in the country.
Vijay is one of the big names in Kollywood and is no more famous in terms of popularity than Rajinikanth. His films often collect record numbers of TRP. As a result, his films are considered safe bets by television channels.
On average, the television rights of Vijay movies are easily sold for more than 20 crores of rupees. It should be noted that his films are watched by Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada moviegoers.
The film marks Vijay's third union with Atlee after Theri and Mersal. Nayanthara plays the female lead in the film funded by AGS Entertainment.
The directors of the film have not yet announced the title and the film should be released in the month of October to coincide with Diwali's celebrations.
