Shantanu Srivastava and Akshat Ghildial, authors of the famous comedy drama Badhaai Ho, withdrew from the Filmfare Awards, where they were looking for the best original story award.
In a tweet, Shantanu wrote that he prefers to lose a prize to share it with an unworthy person. The authors took the decision after the withdrawal of the candidacy of the writer Jyoti Kapoor. "Akshat and I have decided to withdraw our names from Filmfare's best original story bid," he wrote, "that Jyoti Kapoor's name be restored or not, because we believe that it is better to lose a possible prize than to share it with someone did not write the story of Badhaai Ho. We wish good luck to all candidates and hope that self-respect will always remain in currency.

In an interview with Firstpost, Shantanu insisted on the fact that Jyoti's contribution to the story was limited to "one-liner" and did not go beyond that. He said, "I just want to clarify that we have never met Jyoti and that the film has no basis in its original story. The only thing in common is the one-liner. Everything else is different. We do not want to share the spotlight with someone who has not worked on the film, but removing our name from Filmfare nominations was the right thing to do. "
In a previous tweet, Jyoti had asked for her name to be reinstated in the nominations and she wrote:" Restore my name in the nominations for #BestStory @filmfare.
