In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, the actor explained that Ranveer perfectly suited and that though he had not shot the film, she could not think of any other actor who could have played the role of Murad. She would have said, "No, it was so natural that if, for whatever reason, Ranveer had decided not to shoot the film, I could not think of any other mainstream actor that could have done that. The fact that Zoya (director Zoya Akhtar) thought of him for the role did not surprise me at all because he is extremely influenced by rap and hip-hop culture.
She revealed that hip rap and hip culture is an integral part of it and with the film, the world knows it too. Deepika congratulated Ranveer for introducing everyone to a new world and for bringing to life the lives of people we did not know, the challenges they face on a daily basis, and the help that music brings. He put these singers on the map of the world, given the legs and the visibility of the underground music, "she added.
Without revealing too much, Deepika also revealed that Ranveer had also struck for her. On the labor front, as Deepika began preparing for Meghna Gulzar's Chhapaak alongside Vikrant Mbadey, Ranveer will be seen in films like Kabir Khan's & 83's and Karan Johar's among others.
