The theme of the film directed by Anurag Singh intrigued the fans for months, then the positive word of mouth helped the film to score good reviews and impressive numbers at the box office. Kesari had a promising start on Holi with as much crore as 21 crores and managed to score the second largest number of Day 1 collections after Akshay Kumar after Gold (crore of 25 Rs ).
So far, Sunday's collections were the most important in a day for Kesari . A little earlier, Taran Adarsh had tweeted that Kesari had to perform well this weekend to strengthen his box office figures.
The film is based on Kesari based on the Battle of Saragarhi, 1897 and Akshay Kumar plays Havildar Ishar Singh, who leads a contingent of 21 Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army against 10,000 Afghan invaders.
