Vijay Sethupathi in Super Deluxe was absolutely convincing! & Nbsp | & nbspPhoto: & nbspYouTube
The role of Vijay Sethupathi as Manickam aka Shilpa in Super Deluxe has never been seen in Indian cinema. It was so good that it makes you want to hug him and congratulate him for having played such a difficult role with such conviction. It is an established fact that Vijay Sethupathi has all the characters he plays on the screen, which is one of the reasons why the issues were more important with this role. For all those who have not watched Super Deluxe yet, there will be two or three spoilers in this room, so avoid them if you wish. The struggle for the acceptance of the third bad in our society has been going on for a very long time.
Not only legally, but there are people who are not even mentally willing to accept the third bad as a respectable part of society. . Of course, I do not take away from those who actually help these guys and help them get decent jobs. But again, many people have trouble accepting people who undergo a bad-change operation. There is a lot about Sethupathi's role as Shilpa that I find both dark and endearing. Not to mention the fact that it can really make you laugh, cry and sympathize with him on the screen.
Here's why Shilpa is one of the most powerful characters I've seen on the screen.
his son
This is the first time that Manickam, aka Shilpa, meets his son and is thrilled to see him after so long. Obviously, the family and everyone showed good judgment, but his son, Rasakutti (an adorable nickname for the child), was endearing. He thought it was the way his father tended to see him in a sari and a wig. . It was so easy for him to accept his father. In fact, he even wanted to introduce his father to his friends. Another scene that I can not forget is the conversation he has with his son where he answers all his questions. Shilpa answers all of her son's questions with such ease; it's too endearing to watch. Many bad things happened the day Shilpa came out with his son, but the kid still does not want his father to leave them again.
The Horrors of Experiencing a Radical Gender Change Surgery
Honestly, it's not necessary to be "educated" to understand why a person does not feel like comfortable with your body or your baduality. It's all human and all about acceptance. Of course, when Manickam decided to have surgery on a bad change, he did not expect to be a victim of badual badault or to be perceived as an abuser of children. For him, it was as good as getting nails because you are not happy with their appearance. This is an example from the movie itself. Sethupathi loses his son half way and is too terrified to go home and face the family. It is when he confesses to a priest the sins he committed without knowing it when he was in Mumbai. A vulnerable Shilpa wants to erase her sins so she can pick up her son and it's one of the most beautiful scenes in the movie. Sethupathi has portrayed all these emotions with great conviction.
Shilpa is essentially a call for help!
All that Shilpa feels in the film is a call for help and change in society. It's so important and easy to coexist and yet so difficult. The narrative at the end of the film about how we live once and ruin our lives by adhering to the norms and perceptions of society opens the eyes. Sharath Kumar also played a transgender in Kanchana where he fought for the rights of his species. But nothing and no one could have played it better than Sethupathi in this film. He hits the right chord with the audience and hits the right notes.
