In 2009, Mohan Babu had issued a check for 40.50 lakhs to Chowdary as payment for the film, Saleem. However, the check was rejected for lack of sufficient funds. Later, the actor did not return the amount, which led the opposing party to take legal action. In the meantime, the court has granted bail to the actor for the production of two bonds. The actor has 30 days to appeal to the highest court. In a statement to Mirror, lawyer Sai Baba said, "Mohan Babu has filed two contradictory answers in court.
