Prince Harry's "Biggest Fan," Daphne Dunne, Dies at 99

A 99-year-old Australian widow of the war, nicknamed Prince Harry's "greatest fan" died after her family said Tuesday that she was suffering from pneumonia

In a statement posted on Instagram, Daphne Dunne's family said she died peacefully in a Sydney hospital Monday, just days after turning 99 years old.

Over the years, Dunne had been photographed several times greeting the Duke of Susbad on ropes, including last October on the steps of the Sydney Opera House.

"Just holding Daphne in the street and holding her hand means more than … anybody could ever imagine," they said.

"We, his family, thank everyone for the love and support they have shown to Daphne."

She had received a message from Prince Harry and his wife Meghan. birthday last week, which, she said, "really made my day".

"Well, I did not get out of the hospital, but the letter certainly made me feel better," she told 7NEWS.

Harry met Dunne for the first time in 2015 when he had noticed her husband's war medals pinned. chest.

Meghan is to give birth to the couple's first child later this spring.
