Kangana Ranaut was last seen in Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi . She is now moving to new territories with new projects. She has just signed the biopic J.Jayalalithaa and Panga of Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari with Mental Hai Kya with Rajkummar Rao and of course, her own biopic that she will announce soon. She also signed Imali with her mentor, Anurag Basu, but she has now decided to let this project go by referring to date issues. According to her last interview, she stated that she wanted to focus on a larger project rather than working on Imali to be screened in November 2018.
She stated that ] Imali stars Rajkummar Rao and was rather enthusiastic about working with him again and also collaborated with her mentor, Anurag Basu, but since then she has been so linked to Manikarnika, that she had no time to start Imali and now she is busy with yet another movie detail which she will be giving soon. This film will be her director because she now has confidence in film making, after the success of Manikarnika. This project is mostly considered as its own biopic.
Kangana Ranaut will play the gritty character of a kabbadi player in Panga with Jbadi Gill, Richa Chadha and Neena Gupta. The film should come out next year.
