Salman Khan's appeal in the 1998 Blackbuck poaching case will be heard in court today
After a certain delay, Salman Khan will finally have his hearing. in the case of poaching in 1998 by the Blackbuck in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Earlier this year, in February, Salman Khan appealed the verdict of the court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. Its date of hearing was however postponed to April 3rd. In his appeal, Salman challenged the prison sentence imposed on him.
The Bollywood superstar was sentenced to five years of imprisonment in the poaching case by Blackbuck in 1998. The actor was accused of killing Blackbucks, a species endangered at the time, in Kankani, near Jodhpur. It was at the time when Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Neelam, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Monish Bahl were filming the film Sooraj Batjatiya Hum Saath Saath Hain.
Last year, Saif, Tabu, Neelam and The court acquitted Sonali Bendre of all charges. Salman Khan was however charged under section 51 of the Wildlife and Other Welfare Act under section 51 read in conjunction with section 149 ( illegal gathering) of the Indian Penal Code. As a result, he was sentenced to five years in prison.
The trial court found him guilty of the murder of two Blackbucks. The actor had to spend two nights in jail, after which he was released on bail. In an official statement, Salman Khan's lawyer, Anand Desai, said: "In the present case, the Hon. Court has acquitted the five co-defendants, which would imply that Salman was hunting alone in the middle of the night a remote area outside Jodhpur.We preferred to appeal the decision of the Hon Sessions Court and we requested an urgent hearing today. "
Salman Khan and his team of lawyers must hope for a favorable outcome in the same way as the audience today. Last year, many investments were made on the shoulders of the Bollywood superstar. In addition to the imminent promotions of his upcoming film Bharat, Salman Khan is currently shooting for Dabangg. He is also expected to play in the upcoming Inshallah movie with Alia Bhatt, of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and in four other films in preparation.
