Kapil Dev had been captain of the Indian cricket team to victory in 1983. He was also coach of the Indian cricket team between October 1999 and August 2000. The film is directed by Kabir Khan.

Ranveer will be seen in the drama of Karan Johar's period, "Takht". The lead roles will also be performed by Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Anil Kapoor. It will be projected on the screens in 2020.
